Each year the growth of ethical consumerism rises and with that growth there is a recognition that more still needs to be done. The Co-Op Ethical Consumerism report for 2008, showed that

there was an 81% increase in consumer spending on ethical goods since 2002;
96% of the UK population recycled goods in the previous 12 months;
83% consumers now shop to support their local shops and suppliers;
57% of all consumers will check out the ethical credentials of a business before deciding on whether to deal with them;
57% of consumers will not buy from a company with poor ethical credentials
